About Dr. Melissa Roberts, DC

She did not begin ballet as a child.

She began at 39.

After years of building a chiropractic practice, raising two children born during a pandemic, and quietly setting aside the parts of herself that did not fit neatly into the role of doctor, wife, and mother — Dr. Melissa Roberts walked into a ballet studio in Woodbury, Connecticut in April 2024 and changed the trajectory of everything.

Eighteen months later, she was en pointe.

That is not a metaphor. That is what happened. And it is the foundation of everything Doctor Ballerina™ exists to prove — that the second act is not a consolation prize. It is the performance.

Dr. Melissa Roberts is a neurologically based chiropractor practicing alongside her husband, Dr. Joe, at J&M Family Chiropractic in Woodbury, Connecticut. Her approach is rooted in the understanding that the brain controls everything — that a clear, aligned spine is not merely about pain relief but about the full expression of human potential at every age.

What began as a personal experiment — applying the same neurological principles she uses in her clinic to her own body through ballet — became a clinical revelation. The alignment demanded by ballet. The proprioceptive precision. The postural conditioning. The breath. The discipline of 1% daily improvement. These were not separate from her chiropractic philosophy. They were an extension of it.

Doctor Ballerina™ is what happened when she stopped separating the doctor from the woman.

She is currently training at New Haven Ballet, Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, and Woodbury Ballet. She began ballet at 39 and achieved en pointe within 18 months — a milestone her teachers called extraordinary. She is building a 10-year journey through her 40s with one intention: to prove that the best years of a woman's life are still ahead of her.

Her research focus is perimenopausal and menopausal women — a population she believes has been historically underserved by both medicine and the wellness industry. Doctor Ballerina™ is her answer to that gap.

She is a mother of two. A chiropractor. A ballerina. And she is just getting started.

"Seven years to rebuild. Ten years to master. A lifetime to live it." ™
